County Success for Chippenham


On 6 February, at the University of Bath , Kalynn Branston won gold and Evie Preece won silver in their age group (15) over 800m in the long distance championships

Beatrice Moore took the 16 age group 800m and John Branston was second in the 1500m for 13 year olds.



At the sprints, Jack Crow, 17, swam outstandingly to become overall champion in the backstroke and place third in the butterfly.

In the women's finals Maddie Harris was second in the freestyle, third in the butterfly and fourth in the backstroke.

The Junior Championships (15 and under) were decided by heat times with Henry Moore, 15, taking second in the backstroke and Charlotte Myers, 14, fifth in the breaststroke.

In the 17/18 age group Crow was also third in the breaststroke and first in the freestyle.

Lewis Wilson, 17, was second to Crow in the freestyle.

More was third in the 15 age group butterfly, while John Branston finished first in the backstroke and freestyle.

Owen Wilson (first), George Claverley (second) and Matthew Hare (third) completed a clean sweep of the 12 age group breaststroke medals.

Claverley was second in the freestyle and Hare third in the butterfly.

James Tucker swam superbly to take all four sprint distances in the 11 age group, while Sam Miller was second in the butterfly and third in the freestyle.

In the women's 17/18 age group Harris was also second in the breaststroke.

Beatrice Moore was first in the 16 age group butterfly and third in the freestyle, with Emma Holloway second.

Evie Preece was third in the 15 age group backstroke and in the 14s, Charlotte Myers was first in the breaststroke and second in the freestyle.

Katie Smith was third in breaststroke and Chelsea Chard third in the butterfly.

Chippenham swimmers go to the open meet at Corsham this weekend, followed by the 800m (men) and 1500m (women) events at Bath on February 21.
