Treasure Hunt Poems!
I registered all poems against each family team at the time but there are two whose origin I am now uncertain about ... if you let me know I'll add the name of the family responsible ... if you want me to!

The Waterfield Poem

There was a young boy from town
Who learnt to swim so he would not drown
Length after length
Gives you strength

He stopped going to the pub
And joined Chippenham Swimming Club
Length after length
Gives you strength

He heard they were the best
But you get no rest
Length after length
Gives you strength

Some swimmers are good
Some swimmers are bad
Sometimes you're happy
Sometimes you're sad
Length after length
Gives you strength

Summer League, Winter League
Galas are great
Up and down
Up and down
Your arms and legs begin to ache
Length after length
Gives you strength

The Chard Poem (I think)

There was a young boy called Shane
Who thought swimming training was a bit of a pain

The May Poem

Swim swim instead of the gym
No more gym because I like to swim
My name is Jim and I like to swim
I am married to Lynn and she likes the gym
Our son is Tim and enjoys a swim
Our daughter Kim hates the gym
On a Monday she enjoys a swim
Because
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Swim
Keeps us slim!

The Swan Poem

I wake up every morning
Stumble out of bed
I put on my trunks and goggels
Because swimming is in my head
I dive into the pool
And take a gasp of breath
The water's very cold
And I'm freezing to death
Back, breast, crawl, fly
Swimming up and down
Keeping fit and healthy
Just like Gordon Brown
I'm pretty good at breast stroke
I sometimes win a race
I'm not so good at back stroke
I came in last place
My Mum's a good swimmer tpp
She does a mile a day
She trained when she was a youngster
I'm sure that she would say
That swim training is good for you
She's lost a lot of weight
And if you keep it up
You could become a great
Champion swimmer

The Smith Poem

Swimming training is so much fun
Far better than going for a run
Splash, splash, splash up and down
I really have no need to frown
We all go and swim a mile
Decorating our face with a smile
Fingers are blue, toes are aching
Nigel knows when we are flaking
Backstroke, breaststroke, fly and front crawl
Nigel thinks we're having a ball
Using paddles and using fins
Next gala we're going to win

The Crow Poem

I love swimming training
It doesn't matter if it is sunny or raining
Nige is always there
With his whistle and gray hair
He shouts and yells to make you fasta
At competitions he makes you eat pasta
Faster times we hope to get
Nige will be watching you that's a bet
We all train to get a better time
So before training don't drink lemonade and lime
We do skulls and stuff
The water clears away belly button fluff
When we train with goggles and cap
Chucked in the deep end in a flap
When you've had enough and nearly sick
Nigel makes you swim for a brick
If doing crawl or doing kick
Nigel's there with watch and stick
He times and calls and often whistles
To make you faster, slaps bottom with thistles
The end result is to win the race
Go hell for leather at a constant pace
You may think training is fun
In the water but no sun
So this is the end do have fun

By an unknown family 1

Swim training, what fun
Lovely trainders, full of run/pun
Never losing their patience
Nor their stance
Fast swimming
Hopefully winning
Parents waiting
Supporters waving
Forgotten the fear of dwowning
Starting from duckling
To the final stages of diving
Proudly wearing
The team logo
What bavado!
Equipped with coloured flippers
Here are our swimmers
We all have a go
We master the strokes
Us chicks and blokes
Here is our rhyme
As we run out of time
As we hear the bell chime!

The Preece, Tunnicliffe, Holden Poem

Swimming is so fun
Just like lying in the sun
Nigel is so cool
He's an expert about the pool
Nigel sleeps there day and night
Just to make sure we get it right
We love swimming all the time
That's why we make this rhyme
Swimming is so much fun
And its only just begun
Diving is best of all
And it is so cool
Splash people look around and stop
Jane's just done the best belly flop
We easy on our back
But Nigel doesn't like it if we slack
Breaststroke is our favourite of all
We do our glide and pull
Butterfly is the one we can't stand really
Because it hurts our hands
We can all do front crawl
Even though our technique isn't so cool
We train hard when Nigel shouts
But when he's on holiday we lark about

By an unkown family 2

Off to the pool we go
Please don't say I'm slow
We are learning to swim the crawl
The fastest one is tall
The best one is small

Off to the pool we go
In the rain and in the snow
We are still going to go
Take off your fleece and wolly hat
We're getting changed and that's that

Off to the pool we go
Sometimes we may go against the flow
It's timetrials again this week
If I'm quick I'll get a treat

Off to the pool we go
Last week I hurt my little toe
I hate to do a length of wiggle
If you saw my style you would giggle
As if someone gave you a tickle

Off to the pool we go
It's training night again and so ...
Stretch your arms, use long legs
If the chlorine's strong your nose needs pegs
Then brush up on the rules and regs

Thanks for the excellent couplets!!!
