The welfare of children is the responsibility of all. At Chippenham ASC we accept that we are responsible for all aspects of looking after those children whilst we are working with them. This is both a moral and a legal undertaking. The Children’s Act of 1989 details that anyone who has the care of children should do what is reasonable in all circumstances for the purpose of safeguarding or promoting the child’s welfare.

         • The child’s welfare is the first consideration

         • All children, regardless of age, disability, gender, racial origin, religious belief or            sexual identity have a right to be protected from abuse.

Chippenham ASC requires that all teachers and poolside assistants understand, comply with and adhere to the ASA Code of Ethics. Indeed all teaching staff are registered with the ASA on their child protection database. As previously, anybody wishing to take photographs, whether still, with a standard camera or phone, or video photography are required to register their details with the pool operator and with the Club before doing so. This is particularly important at Club competitions and galas, and will be enforced.

The club recognises that equity plays an important role in sport and is committed to ensuring equality of access to all.
