Swim England Festival of Swimming

Chippenham ASC had 3 swimmers that qualified and competed at the Swim England Festival of Swimming held on Sunday 25th July 2021, at Millfield School, Somerset. The Festival of Swimming event was the first opportunity for swimmers to compete since March 2020 when the COVID-19 restrictions began. The event was open to the South West clubs in Somerset, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire and offered a limited number of races through the day. 

The swimmers that attended were;

Lillia Barnett, Louis Nicholls and Peter Weston-Burt

Lillia competed in the 100m Breaststroke and this was Lillia's first competition that she has swam long course. She swam well and finished 15th in her age group (17 years). 

Louis competed in 3 races throughout the day, in the morning session he competed in the 400m Individual Medley, where he finished in a fantastic 3rd place, Bronze Medal, in his age group (16 years). In the afternoon session Louis first competed in the 200m Backstroke and secured another 3rd place and Bronze medal. He then finished the day with the 200m Individual Medley where he finished 4th.

Peter competed in 4 races throughout the day, in the morning session he competed in the 100m Freestyle, where he secured a PB and finished in 14th in his age group (15 years). He then competed in the 200m Butterfly where he secured another PB and finished in 4th place. In the afternoon session Peter first competed in the 100m Butterfly, securing another PB and finishing in 5th place. Then he finished the day with 50m Freestyle, securing another PB and finishing 12th.

A fantastic return to competitive swimming! Well done to all the swimmers.
